Beautiful lavender wands arrived!
They were made near Lublin in Poland by a folk artist Michał. Each year he makes a small batch of lavender wands using lavender he grew.
Lavender wands smell divine! You can keep it next to your bed, on your pillow or in a cupboard. It will also look beautiful displayed on a table or hanging on a wall.
Lavender wands used to be placed in cupboards and chests of drawers to keep clothes and linen smelling fresh and protect them from moths. Also, tradition says that they were given to a bride as good luck (with a little secret note/wish inside!).
The lavender must be cut when the stems are fresh and the seeds are still full of oil, so the lavender wands will hold their scent as long as possible. Lavender stems are carefully bent and fold down over flower heads and then woven around with ribbon. The fragrance can be released by gently squeezing the wand, releasing the aromatic essential oils.
Each lavender wand is unique and was made using Folka’s selection of grosgrain ribbons. We especially love a traditional black patterned ribbon used for folk costumes.
