Greek Wax Votive Offering

Folka is excited to present these unique small sculptures of body parts made from wax.

In the ancient Greece, votive offerings were presented to a god, sometimes either in the hope of a cure or as thanks for one. They were made in the shape of the afflicted body part so it could be an ear, foot, heart etc. Nowadays, this tradition is still alive in some regions in Greece. People would bring this wax offering to the church hoping for a recovery.
